Priya Chandel, AWC

I first truly came to know about Ayurveda after a trip to India in 2019 where I was introduced to Ayurvedic terms in my yoga and palmistry studies.

Until then, Ayurveda was simply a word in my head, a general Indian concept that I regrettably did not know much more about. In India, I became more aware of my poor relationship with food and my physical health and it ignited a curiosity to learn more about this ancient science.

I enrolled to the AWC program at Kerala Ayurveda Academy in Milpitas, CA in the Fall of 2020. Studying while starting a nonprofit organization in the music industry at the same time was a challenging time of my life, and quickly I found myself in a not-so-balancing act between two stifling different worlds.

After completing the AWC program, I took a break from my Ayurvedic studies to focus on building the nonprofit, but was soon met with illness every few months. As an Executive Director of a company focused on environmental sustainability, I struggled between preaching sustainability for the planet, yet not being able to sustain my own physical body. At this point, I knew something needed to change.

I enrolled to the AP (Ayurvedic Practitioner) program in Spring of 2023 and made a decision to leave the world of high stress, late nights, and frequent travel behind to pursue not just a career, but a lifestyle built around Ayurveda. I will be certified as an Ayurvedic Practitioner in October 2024.

Ayurveda has not only transformed my own life but has also become the guiding light in my mission to support others on their health and wellness journey. It would be an honor for me to guide you on your path to healing.

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word that is comprised of two words:

Ayur, meaning life and Veda, meaning wisdom, knowledge, or science. Together, Ayurveda translates to the science, or wisdom of life.

Ayurveda has been practiced as a holistic medical & healing system for thousands of years. It is an integral part of the culture and daily lifestyle practices found in Indian homes and is becoming popular in the West due to the demand of natural remedies.

Ayurveda emphasizes the importance of preventing the imbalances that lead to disease through understanding each person's unique body type and psychological personality and creating specific daily and seasonal health regimens to maintain their positive health.

Is Ayurveda for me?

Ayurveda is for everyone: all races, ages, genders, etc.

Even if you consider yourself to be a "healthy" person, you can still benefit from the teachings and practices of Ayurveda to prevent future disease and promote longevity.

Most people discover Ayurveda when they haven't found answers through Western medicine. Ayurveda helps us understand our bodies through an energetic lens and provides healing by giving us an understanding of how energetic inputs and activities can either be taking us closer to or further from optimal health.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:
1. Can my current health / lifestyle be improved?
2. Are there specific health-related issues I would like to get to the root of and heal
3. Am I ready to invest my resources (time, effort, & money) towards improving my health & quality of life?

If you answered "YES" to any / all of these questions, then Ayurveda is for you!
